We have good momentum. Let’s keep going! It’s important that as many Members of Congress as possible sign on to one or all of the community health center funding bills. Contact your House and Senate Members to sign on as cosponsors to these new efforts.
With just four months in to the new Congress, health center advocates have much to be proud of! In addition to the several bills that were introduced earlier this year, new and companion legislation was just introduced to extend the Community Health Center Fund for five years and provide support for workforce expansions at health centers. We’re excited to share that Representatives Tom O’Halleran (D-AZ) and Elise Stefanik (R-NY) introduced H.R.1983, the House version of the CHIME Act, which is identical to the bill (S.106) introduced in the Senate earlier this year. In addition, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Representative Jim Clyburn (D-SC) introduced S.962/ H.R.1943, which also provides five years of funding for the Community Health Center Fund. These new bills, alongside the previous bills introduced in the Senate, continue to show the strong support from Members of Congress to provide long-term funding for community health centers. It’s important that as many Members of Congress as possible sign on to one or all of these bills, so we’re asking that you take action to ask your House and Senate Members to sign on as cosponsors to these new efforts. Thank you for taking action to support long term funding for health centers and their 28 million patients!
